Appalachian Trail Conservancy Joins the Protect Paris Mountain Alliance

The Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) has joined our Protect Paris Mountain Alliance to oppose the development of a boutique resort complex near the intersection of Route 50 and Blue Ridge Mountain Road only a few hundred yards from the Appalachian Trail. ATC is joining 18 other organizations including Blue Ridge Mountain Civic Association, Friends of Sky Meadows, Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy and Piedmont Environmental Council.
The Appalachian Trail Conservancy is joining the Paris Mountain Alliance in support of responsible land use policies and conservation measures. The proposed development on Paris Mountain would measurably degrade the Appalachian National Scenic Trail’s nationally significant viewshed and raise safety concerns around an important A.T. road crossing and public access point. These impacts would negatively impact the public’s experience of the Trail and undermine the purpose of a nationally designated scenic resource. Working collaboratively with partners like the members of the Paris Mountain Alliance is essential to protecting the long-term integrity of the Appalachian Trail landscape.
