May 4 Board of Supervisors Meeting

Please join Friends of the Blue Ridge Mountains and many other community organizations for public comments at the May 4 meeting of the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors. During their 4pm meeting, the BOS will debate the instructions to the staff regarding changes in the zoning ordinance affecting the Mountain Overlay District.
There are proposals to weaken the protections for the mountains, including reducing the setback for mountain streams from 300 to 100 feet, increasing the amount of land that can be bulldozed without a permit, and allowing an unlimited number of private parties and events at mountain vineyards. We will have tee shirts for everyone to wear with the message Protect Our Mountains.
The meeting begins at 4pm but the public comment period does not begin until 6pm. To register to speak, you must call the County Administrator’s office on Friday May 1 beginning at 8:30am. Call 703-777-0200 then transfer to the receptionist by pressing “0.”
